Poor quality and false advertising
As per another review here, the video recording is awful. It only supports 30fps at 760p, not what is advertised. Mostly does 15FPS. In a house at night with lights on, you can barely see anything. Not sure I'll be buying another ELP camera again after this.

Better than expected.
I needed a real camera for the Raspberry Pi 3 computers we got here for Christmas. Another review said they were using it for similar, so I gave it a shot.Literally seconds out of the box to snapping pics and taking video. Simple and easy. This has the Sony IMX179 image sensor that is physically more, but this camera gives a genuine 8 megapixels of uncompressed image. 3264x2448 pixels with fine details. The threaded lens adjusts to extend the autofocus range. I am mostly interested in still photos.I'll be using it with Python and OpenCV. That was a beast to set up, but not the camera's fault so no stars off. Gets a little warm streaming in high res.I will be buying more of these.

Frame Rates Do Not Appear to Come Close to Advertised!!! Motion is blurred in every mode.
I reserve the right to change this review after further investigation, however upon initial testing on my linux box, the frame rates are nowhere near what is advertised in the listing. See the output of uvcdynctrl -f below. I will revisit this review in a short while. Until them, buyers hold off. If I cannot find a configuration to make this camera do what the listing says, I will return in for a full refund. Higher frame rates at HD resolution is exactly why I bought this. Stay tuned.UPDATE: Having played with this for a couple hours using uvccapture and uvcdynctrl, I found that the frame rates are consistently low. Even in 320x240 mode (completely useless for my needs) even slow movement was ghosted. 30 FPS should be immediate smooth motion. No can do with this unit. I have already processed a return and am now starting over from scratch. It is a shame the seller is listing this item as they are. There is/was a typo that I didn't catch until after I realized what they had done. 3200x2400@30 FPS is what was there and is shown here as a copy paste from the present listing (as of June 06 @12:28am). Anyway I gave it 2 stars because it does, in fact, conform to the UVC standard and was recognized by both linux and windows. For someone needing still images, this may do the trick but any motion whatsoever is just a blur.Specification:image area 5.7mm x 4.28mmMax. Overall I'm very pleased with the results and enjoying using my telescope from ...
Kind of expensive for only 8Mp. I used this in a raspberry pi project to turn a telescope into a wireless observatory. The open structure allowed me to design a cap that would allow it to mount on the eye piece of my telescope connected to a raspberry pi unit to send the signal wireless. Overall I'm very pleased with the results and enjoying using my telescope from the comfort inside my home.

Great Camera for Use with Lightburn Software
I installed this camera in a cast aluminum Bud box and mounted it above my laser engraver's work surface. I then plugged the USB cable into my laptop, started my Lightburn software. After completing the Lightburn camera setup, it is working flawlessly!

Difficult for machine vision
The camera system worked fine, but I was not able to perform any adjustments of the focal distance. I've had this issue with a few others of these types of cameras, mainly the 120 degree fisheye lens version. The fisheye lens version had a set screw, however, I have yet to find the one which is on this camera lens. Since I'm trying to use it as an inspection camera, not being able to focus the mechanism means I won't be able to take advantage of the 8 mp resolution.

Non standard lense threading?
The camera works great out of the box. I am giving it three stars because the threads on the lenses don't match any of the lenses or the other 4 types of cameras I purchased, so I cannot thread in different lenses.
