It it comes with 2 rolls of bag material that you can cut to the size bag you need. I hope this was helpful.

Q: how long does the food stay fresh?

I have an ancient Food Saver machine. I also have a chest freezer I keep at minus 10-15 degrees F. (measured with a thermometer). About 12 years ago, I lost a vac-packed strip steak in the bottom of the freezer. When I found the steak, I thawed and sautéed it. Perfectly fresh. Of course, YMMV depending on type of freezer and temperature at which you keep it.

All I hear is the clicks when I lock it down - haven't heard any hooting noise. Sorry I am no help.
