I got what I paid for
I paid for a standard fit lid with a working valve and that's what I got.

New barrel cap for pressure barrel.
I was given an old barrel and it has kept it at pressure providing an excellent seal. I didn't use vaseline/petroleum jelly as it has a history of rotting rubber. I used a water based lubricant which has worked perfectly. Regassing the beer as the level has gone down has been straightforward.

Pressure cap (with large CO2 cylinder) put to good use.
Delivered on time - now in use. Had a beer barrel party and got through 22 pints with 8 male friends. The ladies drank wine!
