.co.uk Some of the material on this Greatest Hits album is being re-released for the third time in a year, with "What's My Name" and "Nuthin' But a G-Thang" appearing on the re-release of Snoop's Doggy Style and Dr Dre's The Chronic as well as on the Death Row's Greatest Hits compilation. The fact that any fan of the gangsta genre would (and should) already have copies of the best tracks on offer here is by no means an incentive to buy, and for obvious reasons there is none of Snoop's more contemporary and frankly superior work with Dre on Interscope. What is left is a selection of previously unreleased material from the Death Row vaults, unfortunately it immediately becomes obvious why the material wasn't released the first time round, consisting mostly of weak soul ballad style hip-hop--hardly one of Snoop's strong points. For completists only, those looking for nostalgia should buy the Death Row label's Greatest Hits, anyone else would be better advised to check out Snoop on Dre's 2001. --Chris Blenkarn
