OspreyTalon 22L Men's Hiking Backpack with Hipbelt, Ceramic Blue, L/XL, Extended Fit

Perfect for a large person. It helps a lot to have a belt option on a backpack, I’ve found. Takes weight off the shoulders. I tried a number of options before going for this bag. This is for my husband with a 44inch waist. I was trying to get him a present. Two earlier models from other companies on Amazon sounded great with top reviews. Sorry, but they were heavy and people did not know what they were talking about. Cheaply made. Osprey is a name company with backpacks for serious hikers and for day to day use. They are designed well, know what they are doing. It’s the real thing and worth a little more. There are multiple adjustments to make the bag sit just right in your body. It looks like it will last a lifetime. Well made, easy to pack, plenty of pockets. Excellent. Spend a little more and get a lot more.

Great for bigger, taller people. I am 6’5” 300lbs, long torso. Never have I had a daypack that fit so well. Usually they ride very high, the hip belt doesn’t actually rest on my hips, sternum strap up close to my clavicle notch, not close to my sternum. Supremely annoying, but most daypacks are designed for “average” height, etc.I’ve seen other reviews on occasion from other tall people claiming this pack also doesn’t fit, but I think they’re missing 1 key adjustment, the velcro plate that’s part of the torso harness. There’s a good 3-4 inches of adjustment room, to accommodate longer torsos.Tons of features on this pack, making it useful for a large variety of activities.One slight annoyance is adding a water reservoir, the hook to secure the reservoir teds to fall out and the reservoir slides down. Also, having a full reservoir does greatly limit the room left inside the pack for other items, but all things considered, this still beats every other daypack I’ve used (mostly hiking, traveling)

Great bag. I use it to keep a spare set of clothing, small tools (multi tool/ear plugs/flashlight) and a few toiletries in my truck. It would do well for an afternoon hiking trip, also.You’ll like it as long as you’re ok with separating gear into individual pouches (admin/organization spaces are few and small). I use it every day. I stowed the bladder and hose in the pouch and can’t even tell it’s there.

I have over 100 miles in with this pack so far. I am 6'7 and when I started to use this pack I was 412 pounds with a 56 inch waist. The pack fit me perfectly and room for me to grow, out, lol. I ended up losing weight with all the hikes I did since I started using this bag and now I have a size 44 inch waist and the pack still works for me. The pockets on the waist strap are in the right location and are big enough to fit my iPhone 15 max pro with in an otter box. It is a really nice pack and I beat on it and it still look like new. I highly recommend this pack for any larger person and believe you should bring it to a store like REI so they can help you fit it.You can't go wrong with this pack as a day or even a light overnight pack.

Good straps sides, fit great excellent quality, very comfortable.

I am 6'0" and a fraction, and I don't have a particularly long torso. This "XL" pack doesn't come anywhere *near* to resting on my hips. I had a Raptor 22 pack I discarded when multiple clips cracked and it was way closer to a fit than this thing. I am returning it.I also strongly dislike the fact that the bladder compartment remains open at the top. I freeze water in my bladder for hot days and the lack of closure and insulation is likely to be a problem for me. For that matter, I considered this pack to be unconscionably expensive given that it doesn't even come with a bladder.On the plus side, the compartment organization and general construction quality were very good.If I were only going to use a pack for biking (where resting on the hips isn't as important), I'd probably have kept it, but I need a solid day pack for long hikes as well.

The media could not be loaded. I love this bag for hiking the trails in Utah. I bought the Osprey 2.5 liter water bladder to go with it. I like how the bladder has a separate compartment between the shoulder straps/backing and the bag compartment itself. If you mountain bike or e-bike its helmet holder is very convenient. The top compartment is perfect for holding your keys and wallet or sunglasses. The inside space of the bag is spacious enough to keep a sweater, towel, and whatever else you need to carry. There’s a separate compartment within the main bag to keep other valuables. The outer stretchy compartment is perfect for holding a raincoat, sweater or blanket. The bag also has trek pole holders. I also like how the zippers have a large fastener holder to where you can stick your index finger to get a good hold of and makes opening/closing easy. Also, the waist bags are comfortable and very useful to keep phone chargers and cables handy. Lastly, the bag has synch straps to keep the bag compressed and tightened down. They thought about everything when designing the bag. Only thing I would suggest to Osprey is making a wider grab handle on the top of the bag.

I was told that Macho Picchu was restrictive on backpack size. I was still able to fit all my GoPro gear and kids rain jackets with room to spare! Perfect pack for hiking around Peru for 5 days with 2 kids.
