With a total length of 7-1/2 ft and a weight of 95 lbs, it is designed for various applications including manure spreading, seed bed preparation, and pasture renovation. 8x3
The chain harrow part is 8x3 so it is 4’ long if you include the drag chain and ring to attach it.

One rugged ground-working tool with several uses.
Whoa! Solidly made steel links that attach to a hefty tow bar with a hefty ring and chain. I can attach it to the sleeve hitch on the garden tractor to begin "taming" heavily weed-infested pastures with heavy thatch build-up. I have pulled through approximately 8 acres of that stuff, with clumps of blackberry vines that are gradually succumbing to mowing and uprooting. This rugged implement is helping my pasture restoration, and by reversing the direction of the tines (less aggressive angle), I can dethatch the lawn quickly and thoroughly with hand-raking only in corners or areas where I can't drag the harrow. I'm not counting on the harrow to fully smooth out ruts and bumps, although there seems to be a slightly smoother ride over the pasture that was in the worst shape initially.UPS delivered this implement as a rolled-up bundle, wrapped in several layers of plastic wrap. After cutting away that wrap, I had to use wire cutters to snip several multi-strand wire twist ties to release the links. It takes a bit of trial and error to get the mat laid out, then simply hook the open links onto the drag bar. I haven't tried using the mat with the like facing up, but it could be used that way as well. I'll store it on hooks in the shed when I'm not using it as often.

Very Lightweight
I bought this to replace a supposed like-item harrow that wore out after 20 years of finish grading gravel roads (The gravel slowly but surely wore through some of the harrow's bars. The wear was undoubtedly expediated some as about 15 years ago I chained a couple of railroad ties to the top of it which made it work much, much better. I can't imagine running the added weight of railroad ties on the new unit. It is just way too flimsy and would probably bend the hooks that attach the harrow to the pull bar.I was worried when I saw the UPS man pick up the entire 6-1/2' foot by 4 foot unit and carry it out of his truck. I thought either he is really strong or the unit is really light. Turns out the UPS guy probably isn't that strong. Everything about my old unit is heavier and stouter. The metal round stock used to make the harrow portion is much larger in diameter. The pull bar is bigger diameter, thicker pipe and stronger, the pull chain and loop is much heavier. The reviewers said this unit was well made and heavy duty. They obviously have never seen a good unit. This thing is like a toy in comparison to what I am used to. Oh well, live and learn. Buying equipment online and unseen is risky business. I gave it two stars instead of one because it was a fast delivery.I've decided not to use this new unit and to rebuild my old and just continue use it. Either that or go look for a new, heavier unit to buy. This one will probably just set around taking up space..

Great drag for my pasture
I was looking for a solution to my growing piles of horse manure and didn't want to pay someone to come in with their tractor several times a year. So, along with an ATV, this drag has done the trick. Besides, it is more enjoyable than paying someone $125 every time they want to disc or load up the manure. I also used it to even out some bumpy spots in my backyard. It took a few extra passes to smooth out the prairie dog mounds, but it did the job. The only concern I had was the way it was wrapped in plastic and delivered. Took a bit to unwind it! It is heavy and not easy to lift to store, but I am only 5'1" and weigh 120 pounds, so it is a bit heavy to move around. I found a nice place to "park" it in my yard off the side of my tool shed.

It Has Pluses and Minuses
My first concern was that my 20HP Troy Bronco lawn tractor would have a tough time dragging this across my bermuda grass lawn [no grade greater than 3%]. That's not a problem. Traction is the problem. What I was trying to do was distribute 16 yds of topsoil over ~ 4,000 sq ft lawn to fill in the potholes. I'd fill by utility cart with 2 cu ft of soil, move to a low spot and dump it[think of fire ants on steroids].My second concern was that I'd only be using it in the least aggressive mode, i.e. smoothing. Nope. I found that the "aggressive mode" didn't tear up the lawn/yard; in fact, I added three solid 4x8x16 concrete blocks just behind the lead bar to get best results. But that extra weight and wet conditions frequently got the rear wheels spinning. I definitely need to wait until the yard dries out in the Spring before trying to complete the job.If I had to do it again, I'd get the 1/2" diam wire for the added weight; sizewise, I think the 6.5' wide x 4' long is fine.

good for preping large areas for grass seed
I zip tied 90lbs of barbell weight to the top of this harrow and pulled it with my quad to prep about 4 acres for grass seed. It worked very well for this purpose and made quick work of what would have taken a whole weekend to do with a rake. I also took a quick ride down my gravel drive and it pulled up gravel quite well. I did not do the whole drive but I anticipate this harrow being quite useful for drive maintenance.don't expect nice packaging with this purchase. Mine was dropped on my driveway wrapped in plastic. this does not bother me as the tool is meant to be drug across the ground but it may be off putting to some.

Totally pleased!
I love my harrow. My Lawn Tractor pulls it fine. I do ad three big retaining wall bricks to the bar to get more grab as I’ve been doing some leveling/smoothing. We’ve got a yard no ones ever done anything with...and a 1/2 acre area we’re turning into a pasture. I wanted it smoothed and didn’t have the money to pay for big equipment nor the desire to keep doing it all by hand. This has been great. It doesn’t “level” but it helps and it definitely smooths! I take time to shovel off high spots then hit it again with the harrow and it makes it so much better. I read every review there was searching for I was hoping for. This has been great! Hope it helps someone else.
