Really nice, albeit a little confusing

The app is a little odd and confusing to navigate all the options. That said, the 360 degree function works flawlessly. Still working out the kinks with the 3d. I have an Oculus Quest and am trying to figure out how to best view on that headset. This camera is really nice, the body is all metal, the actual directions on the camera are easy to operate. For previews, you need to look at your phone, that doesn't bother me, as my phone is always within reach and I can control effects while the camera is still running and I dont have to change the positioning by docking with my hands trying to get it right. I'll be recording a hockey game tomorrow is 3d, so the true test will be then.

Amazing Technology

So if you're an early adopter you know the drill ... but if you're not you need to be careful. The camera does everything as advertised. It takes (nearly) seamless 360 degree photos and amazingly convincing 3D photos too! The first time people see, no make that experience, good photos they want to know how I took the photos and with what camera. However, it's really early days and the work flow - the process of getting the images from the camera, to the phone, to a PC to edit ... is still rough in more than a few places and thankfully, it's just software and will get better. The cost of entry into this magical jaw dropping technology also needs to include a high-end cellphone, a good monopod, and a Google DayDream or equal. The cell phone is needed to run the camera to its fullest. There are manual modes where without a view finder you just point and click. It works! The mono pod is useful as it has the smallest footprint as when you get people looking at the 360 degree photos they look everywhere and the legs of a tripod sort of breaks the screen. I had a Google DayDream view that I found was perfect for using the cell phone to view the photos in the QooCam app. It's amazing technology and never fails to blow my mind.

Hardware very good, software leaves a lot to be desired.

(See my comment about what happened next)Having tried like crazy to get this cam working for 3 days, it's now time to leave a rather scathing review. Which is a great shame, because the hardware works very well, but, because you can only get the full potential of this device by using a cell phone and the QooCam App, without the App to setup the cam you are pretty well lost. The software for the PC is OK but it's a rudimentary package for creating output (rendering). No controls for the camera at all, so you are reliant on the App.Phone is a LG-G4 . Android Version 6 Kernel version 3.10.84. (the App will not load on a LG - G Pad F 8.0, which is what I really wanted it to work on, strangely their other apps for the top end cameras would load OK on the G Pad F )1/ I've never been successful getting the app to connect correctly to the CAM. It takes forever to connect, and every time it hangs the app. Yesterday it didn't hang (happened once) but if I hit the record button I had a message that the memory card was full. Which was a bit of a surprise because it's totally empty. It's a brand new memory card, and is actually 100% OK.2/ So today I connected through Setup >> WiFi >> QooCam. (The password is 12345678). This was about 5 times faster than trying to connect through the app, you still get the annoying "Internet not available". But I am connected.Opened the app, defaults to video. Pressed the record button and I was able to remotely control the the video recording. I was able to see and change the the video settings. But as soon as I swiped the screen to get to photo (or any other option) the software immediately hung the phone. Had to shutdown the phone and restart.3/ The (lack off) documentation on how to use the phone app / cam is a disgrace. No thought put into it at all. Download all the information they had on their web site, and it really contains nothing of value. I'd be disappointed with this documentation if the device only cost $30 .... but for the money they are asking for the QooCAM it's really bad.4/ I went back and looked at the comments left on the App download. People have been complaining about the app since August 2017. It also looks like a couple of people had success as well. So it's possible that the testing department needs to find out how to test in the real world of multiple manufactures of cell phones. So in conclusion. Unless you want to gamble on it "might work", don't purchase this cam because as far as I am concerned, it's a very light boat anchor, and without a fully functioning app that's all it is!

--Change of heart - App fix

Ok, figured out the issue people are having getting the App to connect... Try this:Put phone in Airplane Mode. Enable WiFi. Now try to connect... This issue works for newer phones (Mind is the Samsung Note 8) because they allow network on Wifi and Cellular at the same time. Also a note: It took this unit almost 10 hours to charge... It had a firmware update ready, but would say all day today the battery was under 50% and to try again. Over and over. Finally worked. Video is better than I expected however the anti-shake stinks. Just makes the shake FAST and jittery.I'm still considering returning only if the battery charge issue persists. Now that the App works and I can use the device I am switching back to 4 stars from 1.

Do not waste your time & money

Spent MANY hours trying to get this camera to work properly - the iPhone app and the windows editor program crash constantly and most of the features do not even work. You cannot even upload 3D photos to your Facebook timeline as promised. I’ve been back and forth with their tech support at least 10 times and still could not get this to work. I even got made a beta tester for their iPhone app after several emails...nothing like paying full price to be someone’s beta tester...still isn’t working. I finally give up and will be returning this camera. Very disappointed - clearly rushed to market and still not ready.
