The item came in a compact box and was well packaged. In the box is the main product and an instruction manual. No batteries included but you will need 2 x AAA which is inserted in the handle component. I just aim at the target of what I want to measure (the closer the better) and click the button then you get the temperature reading.I have been using this in the garden to monitor my plants' soil as the weather becomes much cooler and I need to know when to move them into the greenhouse. As spring approaches, I will be using it to monitor the temperature inside my greenhouse for my seedlings.I have also used this to monitor the temperature in my oven as I had a suspicion the temperature gauge may have been off and a cake I wanted to make had to be baked at the exact temperature for it to bake properly. Therefore I can say the product has been reading cold and hot temperatures successfully for me.

I have a much more expensive thermal thermometer and this consistently over or under read by 2 or 3 degrees CNot recommended for critical needs (brake temp when racing etc.) may suit domestic use but if you need accuracy go with a make/model over £60 such as Fluke. I returned this.

Instructions are rubbish with spelling mistakes, we bought it so we could easily keep an eye on the vivarium's as we have several different species of snakes, They all have independent thermometer's and humidity gauges and we now have a problem as this gun is reading completely different to them so we have been left not knowing which are right as the ones we have in are all the same type,I'm at the moment trying to think of a way of testing the gun so we no for sure. there's loads more of these for sale a lot cheaper but I was assuming paying more would mean a better quality one.At the moment I am of the mind its crap and just need to prove it at which point a complaint and a request for my money back will be sent off.ABAG OF S*^% THAT LOOKS GOOD

Easy set up and easy to use, nice to change from measuring units if required. Seems accurate for forehead use.
