I've had several Bayite ferro rods before and I love them, In the past they have been 1/2 x 5 or 6 inches or the micro sized rods, this is my first 3/8 by 4 inch from Bayite. As expected, it's a fantastic product at a very reasonable price, and is for me, the perfect size to pack. I really appreciate the striker and lanyard that are included as well. Bayite make a fantastic compact striker that really throws gobs of hot metal when used aggressively.

After watching many survival shows my kids wanted to learn and be able to start a fire if needed in the outdoors. This is the perfect size and comfortable for my 10 and 11 year olds to grip in their hand. Generates a strong spark and easy to use.

Practice with it a while for your survival depends on it. Takes 5 minutes to wear off the coating. Until then, little to no sparks will happen.

Very effective striker set! I'd recommend that you practice using it in a safe manner before you need to rely on it for starting a fire in a pinch - it's not hard to get the knack of it. Remember that if you haven't used the rod for a while, it may take several strikes to get through the oxidation layer, but you'll be throwing good sparks soon. If you have questions, enroll in the u-tube university for guidance.
