95% as good as the leading brands, at a fraction of the cost!
I bought the Arkaso V50x as a replacement for an older, 2018" Crosstour CT7000" cheap camera to use on the bike as a safety camera, and this V50x is much better. It feels well made and the quality of the image is miles better than my previous camera, it records upto 4k at 30fps, but i use it mainly on 1080p 30fps to save file size and storage space on my SD card, people i hope are aware, its not a Go Pro, and the quality of video isn't quite as good, but this is massively cheaper than those, and it does 95% of everything that they do.It comes with two batteries, and a suite of various mounts and accessories. running the camera at 1080p 30fps on a ride this week that was 2.5 hours long, i got home to find it still recording, which i think is excellent really, and considering you get 2 batteries, it should never be an issue.Criticisms? Not many really, although one bug bear is thers no light on the top or bottom that flashes when its recording, unlike my last one, so when its on my chest on the bike, i dont know if its recording or not, theres a flashing light on the back of it, but obviously you cant see it when it mounted below or above you.Overall, really pleased with this camera, would recommend.

Excellent action camera for a great price.
I thought long and hard about getting a more up-to-date action camera. I started by looking at the current GoPro range but for the small amount of use it would get they are simply too expensive. I then scoured the internet for reviews of cameras and the Akaso V50X came out well from most of them. I am aware there are some criticisms of sound quality but I'm not seeing it with the one I have. The camera arrives with a large selection of accessories and usefully, two batteries. Simple to operate once you get the hang of the menus and it performs very well. I've got a much cheaper action camera and the underwater footage is awful but this was excellent. Nice and clear with good colours. It's early days but so far I would recommend it as a mid-range GoPro alternative.

Great little camera for holiday!
The media could not be loaded. This camera was fab on holiday & allowed us to capture lots of videos whilst snorkeling at the resort, including my hubby swimming with a turtle - any wobble in the footage is his swimming & lack of tech skills.... he nearly didn't capture it at all!!!Simple navigation between the video & picture settings. The App isn't anything amazing and could do with improvement but as far as downloading our content, which is all we needed if for, it was simple & worked well.I had assumed the accessory clip would be compatible with the GoPro accessories but it's a different connector, which is a shame, but luckily we had one we could switch over easily enough - I had read so many reviews ahead of buying this camera that I think my brain was scrambled, so my bad!We got lots of accessories with the camera, so that was a bonus. The only negative we experienced was that the screen goes to sleep after 30secs or so of filming and so you just have to tap the record button again to wake up the screen - there may even be a setting but I've not actually looked yet and so don't let this put you off. It's probably a battery saving mode. On that note, we took one battery out each day & simply charged it overnight. It was nice having the option of a 2nd battery & if we had gone on a proper snorkeling trip then we would have taken both with us but for our snorkeling on the beach each day, the battery lasted. The picture & video quality looks great on my iPhone but we've not viewed it on a larger screen yet - we might not even do that as we tend to have shared albums on our phones.Overall, this is a great alternative to the more expensive options, especially for holiday usage & we're really pleased with our purchase!

Brave 7 LE replacement: Much better than v50x
OK, so this is an updated review after the first v50x unit I was sent was clearly defective; image quality was just shocking. Hats off to Akaso though; after leaving a fairly negative review of it, I was contacted by a very polite customer service agent who offered to replace it with the brave 7 model. After confirming shipping details, a replacement unit arrived next day in the post. So Akaso get 5 stars for customer service.I can happily confirm that the Brave 7 produces footage of much higher quality and is pretty decent for the price point. It's still not perfect: the camera applies quite aggressive smoothing to the footage which can result in loss of detail when filming up close, but if you plan to use it as intended as an action cam then it's more than good enough. The contrast and exposure are good and the picture is fairly sharp, although it does lose a bit of sharpness towards the edges of the frame. The wireless remote works up to about 2m, so would perhaps be useful if you had the camera strapped to a helmet or similar. For longer range remote control, the WiFi worked for me up to about 5m. Build quality is good. The rubbery plastic casing looks like it'll take a few knocks and the ports and covers all have rubber gaskets. Buttons and touch screen are responsive and easy to use. Overall, it's a decent budget camera. If I were to compare it to a gopro (not really fair considering the price difference), I'd say if the gopro scored a 10 out of 10, this would be a 7.5.
