Works for bread
With the pandemic coming, people bought out the flour and yeast at the supermarkets so I was thinking Navaho bread here I come until I thought hey I have used beer yeast for pizza crust (sanofi 05 to be exact), let’s try wine yeast. And I made some of the most awesome bagels and pizza crusts I have manufactured. I didn’t even need to add brown sugar or sweetener. Crust had a perfect texture. Maybe a bit crunchy. Kind of dry as per the yeast profile. But it was great finding this item and not sure I can go back to the other brands. Also the aroma is exquisite when I proof it in 1/2 cup water at 100F, and a lot of the yeasts they sell for bread have this funky odor. I have to note that the bread from this does not cause intoxication. For two cups flour, use one packet and use two packets for more than two cups for a good dough rise. Worked just like active yeast. Sorry wine makers!

I did not look like it was doing anything
I mixed it up in warm water and let it stand for an hour. I did not look like it was doing anything, but it added it to the wine fixings anyway. the next morning, (8 hours later) I thought it was not working because i did not see any foaming up. I had read quite a few reviews about people receiving dead yeast, so I thought I also got bitten. I was about to dump it and leave a bad review when the surface of the wine caught the light just the right way, and it looked sparkly. When I looked more closely with a flash light, it is actually bubbling all over with super tiny bubbles, it is just not generating any foam. Checked the airlock, and its bubbling too. Very slowly, but it's going. So, it's working!7/2017 Started a batch of hard cider a few days ago. Took the yeast packet out of the fridge, added 3/4 cup sugar to a gallon of apple juice, threw the dry yeast right in and shook it up. It was bubbling within 4 hours.
