I tried the other kinds. This was the best.
I tried the heat gun and liquid, and the 'wand' version. Neither gave me the versatility and heat range that this one did. It's not an expensive hobby unless you buy 3 wood burning tools. The liquid pen didn't make as fine lines as I would have liked for my delicate designs, but it's probably the safest one for young kids to use with some supervision. It's good for shading if you want to enhance your designs. Get some scraps of hard maple. It's really hard. You'll get the most challenge from the hardest woods, but it can be fun to play around on some pieces that you can later use for kindling or mulch, if you have a chipper.

Easy to use!
I found this tool a lot easier to use than my wood burning tool. This heats up faster and is more predictable to work with. Great investment.

An upgrade from my old wood burner!
Absolutely love this. I like how you can adjust the temperature to what you need which makes the wood burning lines much more smoother and easier to do in my opinion.
