Look in the bottom of the plastic packaging before tossing.
I went to use this only to realize that I didn't have any way of attaching the hole bits to my drill. There is a threaded hole In the bottom of each one, but I didn't have anything to screw into them.I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box so it took me a minute to figure out I had missed something vital before tossing the plastic shell this tool came in.When you get it, turn the package upside down and look at the bottom. There is a drillbit hidden below the paper liner and easily missed if you don't think to look for it before throwing the packaging away.I'm guessing that if you're buying this, you know something about using the drill and hopefully how thick the door you are putting holes in is.Adjust the guides for the knob assembly and mortise latch then attach it to the door.I used mine to install a new deadbolt lock. It worked perfectly. I wish I had this thing 30 years ago when I was hanging doors as a teenager.

Great product! Fast and accurate
This door installation kit is a game-changer. I’ve installed my fair share of doors over the years, and this is hands-down the fastest I’ve ever been able to measure and drill. Everything lined up perfectly on the first try, saving me time and frustration.Pros:Fastest I’ve ever measured and drilled – The templates and guides are spot-on, which drastically cut down the time I usually spend fiddling with alignment.Easy to use – Whether you’re a DIYer or a pro, the clear instructions and intuitive layout make the process smooth from start to finish.Accurate – No guesswork. The hinges, latch, and strike plate were all perfectly aligned thanks to this kit.If you’re tackling a door install anytime soon, this kit is worth every penny. Highly recommend.

With workarounds - a great tool!
I read the reviews and worked around the most vexing issues.1. I put plumbers sealant tape on the threads of the mandrel to ease saw removal. By placing the mandrel in a vice after each use and using a pipe wrench (gently) both saws broke free easily. (See photo.)2. I started the large hole with an external Forstner 2-1/8 bit then switched to the provided hole saw for more accurate alignment as the hole was cut. The provided large hole saw needed some extra clearance and would not fit easily through the plastic guide. I started the it from the inside rather than try to push it through from the outside. It was a tight fit, but worked fine. The centering "vee" on the tool helped assure that the holes were centered right where I had marked their centerlines to be.

Easy to use and brings a potential huge savings!
We recently bought a house built in 1973, and the door knobs within were old and horrible, and being dated, the core knob holes were too small to accept a modern door knob. After a quote of $6000. to replace all 11 interior doors, I found this $35. gem on Amazon. A little learning curve, but soon I nailed all 11. Total cost, $35 for the jig and about $24 a door for new knob and hinges. =$299. total cost to upgrade nicely! A savings of $5700. Buy this thing.

A must for replacing glass door knobs
Removed the original glass door knobs and replaced them with standard door knobs. This tool made every one of my cuts with the hole saw perfect.
