I use it to start charcoal fires on my Kamado Joe and it works really well. Lasts long enough to get things going, and no residual taste / smell. A while ago I switched to a slightly cheaper and well reviewed alternative, but I found I needed 2 of those vs only one of these to get the fire going, so not really cheaper! I switched right back.

I have tried almost all of the Firestarter products available. These are truly the best. They can survive getting wet and still light a good fire. I typically use them in combination with a charcoal chimney. However, I have used them to start a campfire, and they were equally as dependable. This is the only firestarter I am buying going forward.
