My dog really seems to be taking this well using it as a topper on his other food. It is soft enough that I can crumble it up finer. It comes in varying sized pieces, so I leave some of the varying sized pieces in his food as well. It does seem fresh. I don't notice any overbearing odors from it either. He actually came to pester me about it one night when I didn't add it. I couldn't figure out what he wanted, he was even pawing and grumbling at me. I noticed he wasn't eating, which isn't that unusual until there is no more people food out, but there wasn't anything else out. All put away and he knows that is his que to go ahead and eat because no more chances of handouts. Sure enough, that was it, I didn't add this to his food so once I did he gobbled up all his food. The only thing I don't necessarily like is the seal of the bag it comes in. I think they should make this a bit stronger for more the ability to keep the product in its original packaging and preserved shelf-life purposes.

I was skeptical about this product at first because I have tried a few different diets for my dog over the years due to her multiple allergies and sensitivities, including prescription diets recommended by my vet. My dog is turning 11 soon and was beginning to get disinterested in her other dog food. She had also been slowing down, which I assumed was simply related to her aging. Since we switched her to this diet, however, she is regularly finishing up her food and I have noticed that she is far more energetic. As an added bonus, she is not chewing her paws as much (they can turn pink this time of the year because of her affinity for the outdoors combined with her various allergies) and her diet is the only thing that we have changed, so I attribute these changes to this diet.

This food my dogs absolutely LOVE. it is quite hard food so if your dog is older or is having trouble with teeth just be aware. I wish this bag was bigger at 43 dollars for 24 ounces its ALOT of money for a small bag but i believe its worth it. I have 2 big dogs so I use it as a topper as I give them blue buffalo but I find kibble has given my dogs some trouble and im hoping adding this food will help them all around. I would love to just use this food but its so expensive id have to get a bag every 3 days 😫 my dogs love to eat it so I will continue to use it and support badlands ranch. I hope they eventually come out with bags for large dogs at a decent price. 🙏

Why did you pick this product vs others?:My lab loves this food. It is too expensive for me to have it as her only food so we mix and it is like a treat everyday.

Not only does this dog food have high quality ingredients, it remains nutrient dense since it’s air dried. Other advantages of it being air dried is that it’s hard enough to help clean their teeth some and it doesn’t have to be refrigerated. I give my dog this topped with Dr. Marty’s every day and she comes running to eat her food immediately. I have been feeding her this mixture for about 9 months now. I’m so happy I discovered Badlands Ranch dog food. I don’t have to give her kibble anymore for her teeth, it’s something I can feel good about, and she loves it!

My dog wouldn't eat the product and I posted one star review. But the company came back to me with an apology and offered me a refund. I commend their entreaty for the offer. I know their products is good and would reccoment it to anyone it is that my dog is old, 16, and he has gotten very finicky about his food. I have been trying different brands and some he will eat for a while then just stop, so I am not blaming the company.Not very often do I come across such integrity to offer a refund, and I will leave that option up to them, for I know it isn't their fault , for the product description I don't think anyone could go wrong with it.Thanks againGary

This VERY expensive quality dog food is usually quite good, but the last bag I ordered was full of dust and small bits. The pieces were also overly hard - as another reviewer noted. Does anyone know if there’s an issue with the production of Badlands’ dog food? I just ordered another bag to compare with my latest purchase; if it’s the same crumbled mess, I am going to stop, which will make my Maltichon very unhappy and me, too.I just received an email from Badlands Ranch. They have offered me a full refund for the above reviewed bag of Badlands Ranch Superfood. I consider this unexpected response very helpful to me and my budget and speaks highly of the company.

I began giving this to our foster dog, who was in heartworm treatment and rehab for a hurt knee. She loved Badlands! Once she was all healed up, we found a wonderful "fur-ever" home nearby for her. When her new Mom took her to the new vet, the doctor said he was so impressed with her health and bloodwork, and that her coat was shiny and her muscle tone was fantastic! (I started wishing they had Badlands for humans....).
